The beginning of March, of the 5th of March marks the festival of the launching of the ships by Isis, also known as Isidis Navigatum. It was celebrated by people across Greece, Rome, Turkey and Egypt and by the Graeco-Roman Period was seen as a Goddess Who ruled over most aspects of life - including voyages at sea. The start of spring was a time where the ships could safely return to sea for trading, and so Isis was prayed to at this festival to bless their journeys.
Today worshippers of Isis may not necessarily need Her blessing for sea voyages, but instead we could seek Her blessing for the spiritual, or goal-oriented voyages and journeys that we will undertake this year.
To celebrate this festival, go to the sea, or a river (or even if the bath in your home!) and offer gifts and prayers to Isis, so that She may bless your endeavours this year. You can write your prayers on biodegradable paper, or on a bay leaf, then offer it to the water, sending your wishes out to the sea, to Isis.
